Alright folks, this is about to get real-er. The UT MD Anderson Cancer Center called today and I get the impression that they’re serious about my case. I have to be there THIS Thursday morning to meet with Dr. Stephen Lai, MD, PhD, FACS. (That’s a LOT of education, my friends!), a professor in their Head and Neck Clinic. This guy has been specializing in cancer of the head and neck longer than some of you have been alive. I think I’ve got “the big gun” on my side. (And, of course, we know I have THE big gun on my side, always!)
Dr. Lai will be reviewing my tests and records tomorrow (Wednesday 4/11) in preparation for our meeting, so please start praying for him and his team, now. Also, please pray for safe travel for me and for a fun mother-daughter time for DJ (my wife) and CJ (our daughter) while I’m away.
Finally, please pray for an MD Anderson employee named LaDonna. She is my referral coordinator and she had to ask me a thousand questions today and listen to my goofy jokes and sarcastic responses …
Q: Have you ever smoked?
A: Only if it was a really good cut of meat.
Q: (silence)
Okay, I wasn’t THAT bad. But she is a super sweet person and a very patient lady. She’s great at her job, so please pray God would bless her as she helps new cancer patients get started at MDA. Not all ministers work in churches!
I’ll post another update as soon as I have some news, and or a cool Houston photo to share!
